Garden Tool Cleanup Workshop

One stop for brushing, sanding, grinding, sharpening, oiling, conditioning and trading tips.

March 9, 2024

(left) Landscaper Mary Hedberg came to put an edge on some serious looking tools. (Above) the work stations open up to early attendees.

Quimper Grange Food Bank Garden co-manager and clean tool advocate, Barbara Tusting  set up the workspace at the Quimper Grange and invited the town of gardeners to bring their hand tools and learn now to get and keep them into shape for the upcoming season in a very short time.

She didn't do it alone, other FBG volunteers chipped in to hold down work stations and conversations. Thank you Doug Groenig, Doug Van Allen, Dianna Wiklund, Noreen Andrews, JJ Johnson, Maikel Carder, Dave Sterritt, Mark Paxton, Emmy Lou Stein, Louise Huntingford, Sheila Long, and "The Marys"... Mary Paxton, Mary Beth Haralovich, and Mary Hunt.

One participant stated, "This was a very empowering experience! Now I can can maintain my own tools instead of asking someone else to do it!"

The event was co-sponsored by the Quimper Grange and Food Bank Growers, both of which have a mission to enrich cultivation practices in our community.

Attendees also learned where they could donate tools they no longer need. The Food Bank Growers are a one-stop-shop for learning new skills while also meeting new gardening buddies. Join us.
