Hearts & Hands Needed

Help in the garden, online or in the background... any talent and time is appreciated.  The FBG follows Washington State COVID Guidelines and also Jefferson County guidelines. Each garden has its own preferences during these transitional times.

We Need...


Growers:  It’s everyone’s favorite job involving once a week work in the summer. 


Weeders and Waterers:  Surprisingly satisfying work.


Gleaners:  Good with being on ladders or coordinating from the ground. (July-October)


Irrigation consulting and installation


Transportation of the harvest to the Food Banks


Tree Watchers:  Needed to check on trees for ripe fruit to alert the gleaners.


Greenhouse Coordinator: This is intensive gardening that helps extend our season.


Harvesters: The gardens need once a week harvesters who can then take the produce to the food bank.


Infrastructure Workers:  Have a talent for building? We need your expertise from time to time on fences, sheds, raised beds...


Grant Writers and Fund Raisers:  This is an as needed task once or twice a year. 


Garden Geeks: Help us get the word out about our accomplishments by adding content to the website or Facebook. 


Spring Plant Sale Coordinator:  Help plant, pot, and sell seedlings for the Spring fundraiser in April.


All-Call Work Parties:  When you sign up for the Newsletter, you may also elect to be on the "All-Call" list for a special one-time need such as putting up a fence or a greenhouse. Work party details will be provided either on the Newsletter or as a separate e-mailing.


Finance Committee and Volunteer Committee expertise


Work one hour, one week, or one season. All help is appreciated.
