While the rest of the nation suffers from floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, extreme heat, fires, hail... here in Jefferson County WA we just have to deal with gray days and moderate temperatures until the summer sun kicks in.  We are rich in how many days we can grow food without fear of losing a crop, but where to start?


Below are some ideas on what can be planted once and will produce an endless bounty of food; or something which may need more tending, but still will keep the pantry full. Not all of us have land to grow in, but all of us can start a pot of tomatoes on the back porch. Another option is to work with your landlord to plant a "forever food" and then when you move, the plant pays it forward to the next renter.
