High Harvest Snapshots

It's Our Edible Artform!

8/8/23

It's August and the gardens are doing what we planned for them to do back in February. Just look at the amount, the shape, the COLOR!

Featured top left is the PTHS garden  haul for the week at  154 pounds  out of a 10,000 square foot garden. (That's about 1/4 acre if you're wondering...)  Some of this went to the PT School district for processing and some went to the PT Food Bank.

Next up is Swan Garden's   156 pounds  of goodness ready for delivery to the Tri-Area Food Bank.

Below is the long awaited for Red Bull onions from  Red Hen Garden.  One seed packet (sown in February) produced 16 pounds of jewels out of a 5x5 foot bed. They wowed the volunteers at Tri-Area food bank.

Yes, our work is dirty and takes many, MANY hours of volunteer effort, but when the results are so plentiful, pretty, and nutritious it's all worth it.

NOTE to Garden Managers: Send new harvest pics and info to the FoodBankGrowers@gmail.
