More than Fair...

Once again the Food Bank Grower Gardens are the big winners at the Jefferson County Fair

Quimper Grange Garden co-managers Mary Beth Haralovich and Barbara Tusting displaying all their ribbon takers.


Salish Coast Production Farm Managed by Neil Howe took the top awards:

  • Premier Exhibitor for both Agriculture and Horticulture
  • Best of Show for Horticulture with a pink Gladiolus
  • Agriculture - 67 total ribbons ( 43 blue, 22 red, 2 white, 2 unjudged)
  • Horticulture - 65 total ribbons (39 blue, 19 red, 7 white)


Port Townsend High School Culinary Garden co-managed by Doug Van Allen and Rachel Dunn won:

  • Agriculture - 15 total ribbons (11 blue, 4 red, 1 third)


Quimper Grange Garden co-managed by Mary Beth Haralovich and Barbara Tusting

  • Agriculture - 14 total ribbons (13 blue, 1 red)


Blessing Garden managed by Judith Johnson

  • 6 Blue and 1 Red


The real winners of this competition are those who learned how to grow these beauties while volunteering in the gardens and also those who get to eat them later at the Food Banks, the Port Townsend Schools, below at the St. John's Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen. Below is the Grange Garden's red cabbage winner that later became soup at the kitchen.
