Mini Salads for PT Food Bank Seniors

Jo's Special Salad Mix

The PT Food Bank is open for general distribution and Quick Pick on Wednesdays with a special day just for Seniors on Saturday.
Seniors have special needs. They may not have much storage or ability to cook from scratch. The Quimper Grange Foodbank Garden provides additional mini bags of salad mix for Seniors by collecting/packaging and sending off FRESH greens on Friday for next day pick up. Jo's Salad Mix is named for Jo Yount, one of the Grange Garden founders who has her own "salad making bar" growing in one of the greenhouses. Jo's salads are most appreciated and anticipated by all patrons, especially in winter!
Seen left in this month's bag are 'winter' carrots -- perfect for smaller appetites and much appreciated during February's gray days.
* the PT Food Bank relies heavily on surplus produce donated by local markets, Costco, Food Lifeline, or from local farms through support from Harvest Against Hunger.
Fresh, local, organically grown Greens are always prized.
