Thank you, Lino Rivera

A superb tribute to Art & Earth

Pianist Lino Rivera presented a program he called "Saintly and Earthly" at the Trinity United Methodist Church Candlelight Concert Series on Thursday, June 22.

Rivera, a member of the faculty at St. Mary's College in California, won his first national piano competition when he was just 8 years old. The son of farmers in the Philippines, Rivera selected Food Bank Growers as the beneficiary of his performance, and half of the gate proceeds will go toward sustaining Jefferson County residents with fresh, organic produce donated by FBG to area food banks. For Rivera, the choice of FBG was easy, he said, citing his close boyhood ties to feeding others.

The concert featured works by Bach, Liszt, Beethoven and Schubert.
