The Grange Garden to host WSDA Pathogen and Pest Study

The study will run until September 2024

Quimper Grange Food Bank Garden  is one of several farms & gardens in Jefferson County selected to host a pest & pathogen study offered by WSDA. Five traps were set early in the month, and will be checked periodically for pests such as summer fruit Tortrix moth, false codling moth, strawberry blossom weevil, tomato leaf miner, old world boll worm, spotted lanternfly, and tomato fruit borer. Traps will be checked and lures replaced every three weeks. Samples of plants will be collected for possible pathogens in September.

WDSA doesn't expect to find many of these showing up in our area, but the sampling can show a movement of pests moving around the area, and hopefully prepare us in advance.

Attached are some really good pdfs of both  pests (3 pages) and pathogens (28 pages) that could be found in our area. It's possible that other gardens would appreciate this information.
