Emergency Prep Picnic

Sustainable, Saveable, Plateable

Milly Lierman and Mary Hunt helped to kick off this year's Emergency Prep Day with a talk covering:

  • What to grow for long term, easy to have perennial food that can also raise your property's value, as well as easy to grow annuals.
  • What parts of the those plants can you eat.
  • What are the best ways to store them over winter.

Attached is a PDF of the above charts.

Afterwards they joined Barbara Tusting and Noreen Andrews at the FBG booth talking to the public about what services FBG provide and how they can get involved.

In tandem with our push for self-growth, per se is the Fresh Food Connect app that helps home gardeners find a food bank near them, the donation hours, and then typing in their contribution before delivering.  This app solves for "the zucchini problem" when you have an over abundance of a crop and you don't want it to go to waste.
