Coming Soon - Farm Tour 2022

This year Swan Farm Food Bank Garden will be featured on Farm Tour

Farm Tour is a much-loved Jefferson County tradition and this year is the 20th Annual. The Tour celebrates locally grown food, fiber, and farm-made products, invites community members to learn from and engage with their local farmers, and stimulates economic opportunity for farms in Jefferson County. The Farm Tour is a self-guided tour around 15 different Jefferson County Farms.

While the Food Bank Growers do not grow for monetary gain, we recognize that small farms are the heartbeat of our community food systems. We love supporting them in any way we can.

In the past we have had the Quimper Grange and Red Hen at RainCoast featured. This year, our food bank garden at Swan Farm P-Patch will be showcased. A P-Patch is a model of community gardening where smaller parcels can be rented by members of the surrounding neighborhoods. As pictured above, people use their patches for veggies, herbs, and flowers.

The owner of the land at Swan Farm, John Gunning, is community focused by not only hosting the P-Patch Garden, but also the Food Bank Growers, the WSU Seed Library and the Jefferson County Master Gardeners. The food bank garden plot is a very productive parcel. Managed by Karen Swan and her dedicated group of volunteers, they are out there every Tuesday harvesting, watering, weeding, and feeding folks via the Tri-Area Food Bank. Already this year they have donated over 650# to the food bank.

This space is a very special part of the community-at-large and we are excited to invite you in this September! Located right off of Highway 20 next to the Olympic Trading Post, there is plenty of parking, so make sure you say hello!
