Meet Gayle Petrick, FBG Board Member

FairWinds Garden Cultivator

Gayle Petrick has been a local fixture in PT and Chimacum for a long time -- first as a growers of local organic veggies and trees before it was trendy; and later as the owner of Heliotrope Mirthful Bakery in downtown Port Townsend (1997-2007). As a baker he was ahead of his time producing healthful, grain-infused breads while the world was still under the spell of Wonder Bread.

Today he has literally returned to his roots and vines and flowers by taking on both a market garden and our latest food bank garden at FairWinds winery. The Market Garden will cover around 10,000 square feet and the Food Bank Garden 5,000 square feet. He plans to keep it all manageable by planting lots of perennials and herbs that the other food bank gardens don't grow such as Blueberries, Strawberries, Rhubarb, Asparagus, and Artichokes.

We look forward to Gayle's guidance on the board for what works well in this community.
